Five people, one room, and a lot of models.

We believe most of a building's quality is decided in the first three weeks, long before anything is drawn in detail. So we spend that time carefully: walking the site at different hours, asking what the water does, finding out what the client actually means when they say “open.”

We are interested in buildings that age well. That means materials chosen for what they will look like in twenty years rather than on the day of the photograph, and details that assume rain, movement and a maintenance budget that will not grow.

We are climate-responsive before we are anything else. Orientation, shade, mass and ventilation do more for comfort and running cost than any system we could specify afterwards, and they keep working when the equipment fails.

A building should be able to explain itself to the person standing in front of it.
